My name is Arjon Capel – Songwriter

I am Dutch and came to Hamburg in 1985 as an “expectant father,” without any knowledge of German. I learned a somewhat “different German” so I could play German children’s songs for my daughter. Professionally, I ended up in the IT sector, where my lack of German skills was compensated by my English.

My mother passed away far too early in February 2013 due to cancer. In hospice, she entrusted me with her own poems written in Dutch and told me: “Arjon, I believe they will mean more to you in the future than your current job.”

When I became very ill in 2017, I began to “really” read the poems. So, at the age of 58, I started to rethink everything.

Result: I translated my late mother’s songs from Dutch into German, went into the recording studio, and “sang myself free” with my first album “InneHalten” (2019). Since then, I have been a songwriter and love the German language, which I also expressed with my second album “Neue Wege” (2021). I released this album through the label Sturm und Klang by Konstantin Wecker.

In the meantime, as a “career changer,” I gained important experience in the music and media landscape and, since the beginning of 2024, have been following my own independent path. With the EP album “Auf Kurs” (2024), released under my own label, I want to provide food for thought and inspiration, while also encouraging people to simply let go.

With my album “Lebe Deine Träume – Live your Dreams” (2026), I tell little stories about extraordinary encounters with people. I sing in German, Dutch, and English. My motto: “Live your dreams.”
